SLOW DOWN /SIT DOWN /SHUT DOWN

#### 5-1 BLACK

One to forget without doubt this morning, we definitely won the echo league Avon Division  team  , "hide n seek" championship by a country mile ! Yes they were a big side and yes i did think they were u/12,s on walking towards the pitch. Ive noticed we do have problems against big opponents from previous encounters .  We were never going to win a physical battle against them, but i do think if we had shut them down a lot earlier we could of made the score a bit more respectable. Really trying to search for positives, Coby probably kept the score down apart from that i could say we tried to play football at times but it really was a performance to forget. Towards the end when we did decide to shut them down we did have success but the game by that time was dead and buried . In the past we have always had a reaction the following game, the Parkview Rangers 5-1 win comes to mind after being whooped by Cheshunt on the Saturday , and would love it to be this Sunday ( just something personal !) So Saturday will be all about pressing, shutting down the opponent quick, trying to gain  possession  of the ball, quickly , failing that forcing an error. when you press it falsies your opponents head down & panics them into mistakes, Barcelona make a living from it !!!
So were put that performance in a box & move on swiftly won 4 lost 3 and playing well this season, i personally would of settled for that at the beginning of the  season . I may need reminding but im sure that was our heaviest league defeat ever, I really cant remember conceding that many league goals in a game for TFA OR BHFC so back to the drawing board as they say on Saturday and lets hope for a good response on Sunday  COYBLACK

BHFC BLACK 1-2 ########

First loss in 5 games , but a solid performance

Probably deserved something out of the game, even their manager said so when I was speaking to him at the end, but then our last 2 wins I don't think them teams deserved to be on the losing side either, so everything evens itself out in the end . We had our chances but didn't take them today, there's an old saying in football, don't worry about missing chances worry when you don't create any , and we created numerous chances  today Most pleasing yesterday we worked on overlapping and third man runs,  and we saw the team do that in abundance today, the passing and movement was again superb, and great to watch from start to finish, the goal itself came from a Nathan W overlap crossed in with his weaker foot and smashed in on the volley from Mitch, a clinical finish and a superb run from Nathan. I love to see things work taken  from the training ground  and we are recently seeing this every week. Another confidence building performance from double j , again going to work on his dribbling and The fig has comeback this year seeming to have been watching videos of the George Graham  Arsenal back 4 all summer!!!!. Asking me now to play in defence, and later on in the game telling me he was going to play the Faith role ! , to which I agreed whole heartedly . I wonder if not publishing the goal scorers  this year has any bearing on now having a team with 11 so willing defenders or just a coincidence , or maybe they have finally worked out that you get more of the ball lower down the pitch, and with us allowing defenders to attack and go forward its a win win situation for our wing backs and sweeper every game .The highest number of kids at training this week we had 18 on Saturday and its nice to have on lookers comment on the ability of the kids play, we don't get many not turn up ,so what they get out of it every week, must make them want to come back and long may that continue .Another hard game next week when we travel to the Hornchurch area again, double j and Will are both away so no rest weeks this Sunday, I like this division ,not an awful lot between the teams and we are tested every week, see you Saturday

GAME/TACTICAL/TECHNICAL/ " IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE BALL STICK IT IN THE BACK OF THE NET AND WERE DISCUSS THE OTHER OPTIONS AT HALF TIME !

THOUGHTS ARE  MY OWN NOT NECESSARILY  THE VIEW OF BHFC EmojiEmojiEmojiEmoji

Another bruising encounter from start to finish ,the first 10 mins or so I thought they looked very beatable, double J killing the left  midfielder on two or three occasions, if you watch Joseph carefully and I have lots of times his pass completion is one of the best in the team, like every player and coach small  improvements are always the way forward, in my view the minute you stand still or settle for what you have , you go backwards. I want double J to be more confident in taking players on and he did that yesterday, hopefully that will give him the confidence to take into the next game  , well done Joseph . The number 6 ( I think ) looked a good player but again over physical, another local team  also had a very physical player again a  number 6 !!!!! seems like there is a pattern building in the Avon division Emoji Best move of the game was definitely the pass from Joe Regan ,a  killer ball played into Will P , If you break it down technically  , the pass has to be seen first off, the correct surface of the foot has to be used to make the pass ,  the weight of the pass has to be correct, the ball has to be played in front of Will for him   to run on to Will  has to select which foot and again surface of the foot to strike the ball with & if you are only one footed your options diminish by 50 % ., I could go into Myelin and Neural pathways but that gets really ANAL !!! When you break it down like that for 9 years olds to be able to process all that information is astounding , and until I did the youth modules I  took all of this for granted . Back to the game and most pleasing was the last ten minutes, on Saturday we worked on game management, we played a predominately BHFC black team of 7 against an overloaded team of 9 , the score was 2-1 to Black and I called in the two teams and asked them to come up with a strategy in game terms. The scenario was 10 mins left in an FA cup  final
Black are leading 2-1 how are you going to set up ? go for the jugular and try to win 3-1 or settle back ,park the bus and keep the ball , same for the other team, do you throw the kitchen sink at them or settle for the loss Emoji The kids game so their choice, no prompting from me or Kev. We lost the game 3-2 !!!!!! but must of learnt as we dug in the last 10 mins yesterday and defended our league superbly , I just asked the nearest player to press the ball the others tuck in and shut down passing routes and space. Some lovely goals scored yesterday  Nathan with another shot that curled in and hit the upright then travelling across the six yard box. Well done Mitch, got battered throughout the game from start to finish but stood firm and never game up .How many teams do you see who can have good players sitting down on the touchline, how many teams all offer equal playing time, and how many teams have half the players go to one school , and how many teams can have a player playing sweeper one minute and centre forward the next ?? Ill let you ponder EmojiEmoji. So played 5 won 4 lost one and just promoted this year, not a bad start, if im honest im not seeing a massive difference in the quality of players in this league as opposed to the last division, what I am seeing is a massive difference in physicality in the games, one for another time but I would prefer to affect the game skills of players rather than strength and power, ive spoke about it numerous times and again something that comes up on the youth awards, if kids are starved of being taught , skills/game intelligence over power/ brute force , what happens to the powerful kid at 15 when he comes up against the skilful  kid at 15 who was a late developer physically , BOTH ARE NOW THE SAME SIZE ????? .Small moan we have lost 4 balls this season all ready , they are good footballs and are £9 each, obviously the club don't pay for any of the equipment we use, we are self funded by the money we raise from Monday night Futsal, so could you all have a quite word with kids to look after the balls, most go missing on match days, think ill put club captain Faith in charge of counting and looking after the balls on match days, ill speak to the team with Faith on Saturday  about the matter. We go again on Sunday, with the thought you are only as good as your last game . !!. Ill refer to the quote from BOB PAISLEY

At last some common sense

If the coach encourages players to slow down and relax on the ball, to take their time, to possess the ball, to support each other, to play together, to take opponents on, to take up positions at angles to each other, to circulate the ball quickly around the team, to play one and two touch football, to create triangles and diamonds in their play, to pass backwards when no forward option is rational, to use the goalkeeper to maintain possession, to read game situations and play away from pressure not into it, and to recognise and create numerical overloads, they are on the right track.

BHFC BLACK 2-1######## A game of 2 "alves "

A game of 2 "alves" as they say, we were massively  on the front foot in the first 25 mins of the game, playing some great stuff, setting up again with Joe Regan & Hayden Porter playing as wing backs and a welcoming return after injury from Faith Mensah .Faith slotted back into the old fashioned sweeper role playing just behind Joe and Hayden . I am a big fan of this system I think it gives us a lot of space and width & I think the kids are getting used to it , and with our players now seemingly being comfortable in any position we can change it at any time to suit the opposition. We took the lead with a lovely move playing out from the back Will Packer found himself in loads of space and played a superb pass into Nathan B who drilled the ball low and hard into the bottom corner of the net. The second came from the left foot of Hayden P putting us 2 up at the break .The 2nd half was a different story the opposition came out firing on all cylinders wave after wave of attacks and you can see why they have came from higher divisions, strong and quick up front Coby pretty much kept us in the game after numerous saves, the best coming from the right foot from there number 9 from 20 yards out which was heading straight into the top corner , and Germans reaction was lightning tipping over the bar. Numerous saves followed with  Cobi pushing  round both posts gavering high crosses really was a masterful display. Another great game for the Fig, mostly his job today was in the middle of the pitch where he battled away but seeing we were really under the cosh later on sat back in the heart of the defence without any prompting from me and Kev. 50 minutes where I thought we had the rub of the green especially in the 2nd half , but we will take it as we definitely didn't deserve to be on the losing side in  the first game of the season  .A  game full of positives with the kids giving they're all , just one negative, we allowed them too much time on the ball today especially in and around our box, so in training Saturday ill dig out some practices on shutting down early .
A bit tongue in cheek Saturday at training Kev brought the head protectors and boxing gloves !! the kids  really enjoyed it, we also did a bit on shielding the ball and using our strength (iron bars), Max said to me at the end , can you let my dad know next time we are going to do it and ill bring my own gloves !!!!
This Saturday we are being joined by  FA tutor Mick Jolly, his role is to go around chartered standard clubs and give feed back to grass roots coaches, not to criticise but to watch and if needed give me another slant on the session or maybe how I can tweak it to make it better. I am always up for feedback, this is Mikes fourth time with us, it also gives me hours towards my continuous professional development as a coach , but with 85 hours already this year and another 32 hours being added once ive completed youth module 3, I only need to do 6 hours a season to keep my coaching badges live !!!!!!! Ill  see if he wants to bring his gloves !!!
