Skills of the week 11/03/15

This weeks skills of the week below which we will be looking at on Monday 16/03/15 as I am at a coaching continuous professional development  event on Monday 9//03/15 I will post up again our skills from the first skill of the week right through to this weeks one , also below is a little warm up I do regularly before games or at training its a possession/control/passing / awareness/ drill  a Blakey Fav !!!Stating the obvious if we have the ball they cant hurt us so this drill you have to be aware of the players around you and if you haven't got the ball you have to get yourself in a position to receive and from level one you can adapt the drill for more players using the STEP process
SPACE (SIZE OF AREA )
TASK (DRILL)
EQUIPMENT
PLAYERS (HOW MANY PLAYERS )
so this drill can be used from u/5,s to England players simply by putting a  touch restraint on players in the middle or on the outside
PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE !

Training game vs Belmont

Nice little workout,  this mornings training game with Belmont , chance to play Coby on pitch and Double J played only his 2nd game in defence, looked like he had played there all season , he was  helped out by Tobi ,Faith and about four others. Think the little 4 vs 4 on the other pitch worked out  well especially as it was cold and saves the kids asking every 5 mins !!! if its there turn to go pitch !.Think we will do this a bit more often may be every Month .Daniel B also got a lot of minutes on pitch,  result has no bearing on the game if you take that away from these games the kids can play freely and get more chances to play in different positions, they then  see the game from a different angle  the skill set as  a defender is different from a centre forward . As always a pleasure to play against Rudi don't know if anyone noticed we didn't even have a referee there was no need. Tomorrow Coby out of goal on pitch Double J goes into defence feeling confident after todays display so as DELBOY !!! used to say EVERYONES A WINNER !!!!
See you tomorrow !

#######1-2 BHFC BLACK 22 February 2015

Great blog on the rotation of positions "here he goes again I hear you say"!!!!!!

https://keeptheball.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/great-players-not-positions/

MATCH REPORT

An intelligent display in a strong wind on a sticky pitch.  Today's line up saw our top scorer in goal and our glove man playing in  a two in defence with Nathan B.  First half against the wind and down hill we all decided to play more defensively with Mitch P cleverly sitting in mid field throughout the whole first half,  & work man like midfield 2nd half display
The moment of fortune
A tigers effort from outside the box that clipped a BHFC player on the rear and left Tobi without a prayer of stopping it to make it 1-1

Moments of magic

A passing move of great quality playing out from the back  Coby  played a cross field ball to Hayden P  who found in form Double J who coolly  put past the opposition keeper for this third of the season. And the winner which saw Nathan curling in from a corner don't know how he does it but I make that the 3 rd time he has scored from a corner.

Food for thought

Tobi had a taste of watching the team play whilst cold standing between the posts like Coby has to do on some occasions but earned his sherbet dib dab on 46 mins when the opposition broke free and shot on goal which he tipped past the post.  A quality save.

Sign her up

On 35 mins a long ball drifted out of play in the wind and Jo Draper rose like a swan and headed it into the bottom corner!!!  Think Jo was rapped up for an Antarctic Expedition !

Positives all round

Ricky's passing and is improving by the game on his left peg.  Nathan W played pretty much the whole game as a winger.  Nathan B was probably just pipped for player of the match by Coby.  Double J's third goal of the season  another great display.  Mitch P's work rate and defensive quality's in the first half.  Joe R's strong tackling and again played as a winger for most of the game. Hayden P adding to his assists and back in his midfield role after a stint at the back .

Practice makes perfect

Keep practicing with that weaker foot.  just kick the ball against a wall to start got a few blogs ill send out this week on control & again practicing with the weaker foot

BHFC Black 2 - 1 ***********

Third game in this ultra competitive Echo League Devon Division our two previous games heralded a draw and a loss but our performances to date have been superb regardless of results.  Our individual player rotation has thrown out come great defensive displays.

This mornings game was against a very good Rudi Perez team who we have not beaten in the last five games.  We started on the front foot with Nathan B having two long strikes superbly saved by the opposition keeper.  One from about 25 yards.  The opposition's first real attack on goal put us one down.  We were caught ball watching and got punished for it.  We were playing some nice tidy football and on 15 minutes Mitch P put the ball in the back of the net but the ref had blown the whistle for a free kick but Joe R made no mistake. A thunderbolt of a free kick drew us level.  We were stronger in defence after the break with Joseph J running the show in mid-field.  Coby M pulled some decent saves to keep us in the game.  Mitch P worked his socks off as was Hayden down the right with Nathan B always looking a threat in the middle  .  Tobi B sat at the base of the diamond but had a hard act to follow replacing the disciplined Nathan W who had a great game in the sitting role.  Joe  and Faith were the glue that stuck the team together.  Five minutes from time Tobi fired a strong effort at the opposition goalkeeper who saved and Mitch P powered in to make it 2-1.

A great game to manage and watch from start to finish.  Respect to Rudi Perez who has a hard working set of boys and make it very hard for us to break them down.

No negatives from the game but I must add the importance of practicing all drills with both feet.  It is a well known fact that 5-11 are the golden years  of physical literacy.  At 12 years of age it will become harder to work on your weaker foot.  PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!  Look at Cristiano Ronaldo and tell me what his natural foot is?? I don't know the answer. That  only comes from practicing simply repeating kicking the ball against the wall for starters will help try it at home .
well done players and parents great support today

NARROW DEFEAT BUT POSITIVES ALL ROUND

******3-2 BHFC BLACK

As league games go they will not come much tougher than this mornings encounter with two evenly matched teams going into battle !! in this u/9 echo league Devon division encounter . As usual we were slow to start and we went 1-0 down after just four minutes when the home side cut us open with a flurry of passes a well worked goal and their number 9 was looking a handful . We responded with a great move down the right when Joe Regan who put in a cracking left footed ball into the box for "THE FIG" who made no mistake and it was all square at half time.  Coby was looking in good form even though he was not feeling 100% and saved us on 3 occasions.  One a tip over the bar and twice he saved on the line.  Hayden P was  immense at the back as was Nathan W.  Faith played a free role today for much of the middle third and looks just as good in an offensive role.  Nathan B was looking dangerous down the right wing.  We went 2-1 down early in the second half and then we seemed to find our fifth gear.  A lovely move with Double J squaring to Joe R who set up Tobi who made no mistake.  The game was swinging from end to end and with 2 mins left on the clock the home side put the game to bed.  The game was a pleasure to watch but most pleasing for me, strictly from a development point of view, was our defensive 3.  We have another pair in Nathan W & Hayden who seem to be getting more comfortable playing at the back following on from Mitch P and Ricky F two weeks ago.

Everyone worked hard and seemed to be understanding their positions better.  Well played everyone in blue & black !

There are a couple of things I would like to work on, one a system on playing out from the back and the other some sessions on coming towards the ball when a pass is played into them.  We will also do some corner variations.

Goals: Ricky F & Tobi B
Assists: Joe R (2)

Player of the Match: Hayden P

Skill of the week from Monday 9/02/15

A little challenge for  BHFC  and Futsal club Roding players that I will be starting from this Monday. I will give a skill  challenge for them to have a go at. For those more advanced who find them easy can they try  it with there weaker foot. I will add the "skill of the week" on the BHFC blog maybe they will want to have a go at both! Little skills to beat opponents in a 1 vs 1 situation are a must in the modern game and the more tricks you have up your sleeve the better !!!
ENJOY
