NARROW DEFEAT BUT POSITIVES ALL ROUND

******3-2 BHFC BLACK

As league games go they will not come much tougher than this mornings encounter with two evenly matched teams going into battle !! in this u/9 echo league Devon division encounter . As usual we were slow to start and we went 1-0 down after just four minutes when the home side cut us open with a flurry of passes a well worked goal and their number 9 was looking a handful . We responded with a great move down the right when Joe Regan who put in a cracking left footed ball into the box for "THE FIG" who made no mistake and it was all square at half time.  Coby was looking in good form even though he was not feeling 100% and saved us on 3 occasions.  One a tip over the bar and twice he saved on the line.  Hayden P was  immense at the back as was Nathan W.  Faith played a free role today for much of the middle third and looks just as good in an offensive role.  Nathan B was looking dangerous down the right wing.  We went 2-1 down early in the second half and then we seemed to find our fifth gear.  A lovely move with Double J squaring to Joe R who set up Tobi who made no mistake.  The game was swinging from end to end and with 2 mins left on the clock the home side put the game to bed.  The game was a pleasure to watch but most pleasing for me, strictly from a development point of view, was our defensive 3.  We have another pair in Nathan W & Hayden who seem to be getting more comfortable playing at the back following on from Mitch P and Ricky F two weeks ago.

Everyone worked hard and seemed to be understanding their positions better.  Well played everyone in blue & black !

There are a couple of things I would like to work on, one a system on playing out from the back and the other some sessions on coming towards the ball when a pass is played into them.  We will also do some corner variations.

Goals: Ricky F & Tobi B
Assists: Joe R (2)
Captain: Hayden P

Player of the Match: Hayden P
