Not been a great weekend ! #### 3-1 BHFC BLACK

Not our best weekend performance wise and definitely not result wise, but if we can learn from Saturday especially. No tracking back from our forward players and not tracking runners on Saturday and ball watching from our defenders and the amount the opposition scored against us didn't flatter them they were easily 5  goals better than us and ,  will be doing a recovery run session Saturday week and some defending drills concentrating on marking. The Sunday game doesn't really concern me that much I think we were out muscled by a bigger stronger team from a development point of view a tutor once told us on a course don't be sucked into the bigger kids always   being better players and to concentrate on technical ability especially when your coaching bigger players .Reason being  the big 9 year old may not be bigger at 14/15/16 and he may of got through his younger playing days by physicality rather than skill where as the smaller player can only survive at 9 by being technically good,  at 15 they may be the same size now the big nine year old who got through his younger days by being stronger has no advantage that's were the skill of the week comes into play keep practicing and Futsal by nature being a game that produces technical players  .Some of ours looked a bit over whelmed by the other teams presence which is understandable I was the same at that age .Two players who didn't have that problem was Coby and Faith who I think kept the score down for us there manager pulled me aside and said Faith was the best player he had seen in this league  one of many that have commented on Faiths ability this year .We was unlucky from a great free kick from Mitchel and went close a few times with the big ball!!
Played some nice football in parts  but I think the game was won by physicality but not tracking back didn't help our cause , just a game to put down to experience. No game this weekend and the last game of the season on the 12/4/15 vs Parkview but ill be trying to get us some friendlies in Futsal and 7 vs 7 . Futsal is on this Monday but not over the Easter weekend and no training on Saturday

KNVB COACH EDUCATION /TALENT IDENTIFICATION

The dutch way ! The last video is on talent ID someone once said to me its not always what you do with the ball its what you do without it as stats say you spend 90 % of game time without the ball . So in  my opinion you should train 90% with it which takes us  back to the 1vs 1 2 vs 2 4vs 4 games etc ..... in training

THE NATHANS SHOW /WING BACKS /INSIDE RIGHTS /SWEEPERS ...THINK THATS IT ...........

With Coby on a rest week Mitch P took the gloves and with my eye on up and coming fixtures I opted for The Blakes in defence with Faith sitting in front it didn't take long for us to go one ahead against a very depleted  team when Double J put us one up for his fourth goal of the season. As we have done since xmas I asked if we could keep it tight at the back for the first 15 mins to stop us going down to early goals . Joe Regan made it two after being set up  by Nathan W with a nice through ball and we was looking sharp and   I counted six attempts on goal in the first 15 mins . But they came back at us with a nice strike and then the game looked like it could swing either way. Just after half time Nathan who was looking more like a wing back than a defender had a nice interchange with the fig and we were sailing at 3-1 . They responded quickly but found themselves down to  only 6 players with 10 to go and we were very much in control of the game after that , Nathan B made it 4-1 and Tobi playing as the other wing back sealed the victory with a fifth although they did get another goal near to the end . As a winger myself many years ago !!! ALTHOUGH I STARTED AS AN INSIDE RIGHT !!!NOT MANY OF YOU GO BACK THAT FAR !! I have been watching over the last few years the emergence  of the wing back and something I wanted to make use of next year and definitely in the 9 vs 9 game at U/11 .Gareth Bale played it a lot at Spurs and closer to home Moses played there under Russell Slade at Orient and we have found another at the match room  named Dossena this season there main role is to defend but with pace can overlap creating an overload in the final third. With most of ours now being comfortable defending and were  definitely not short of goal scorers (we have 3 players with nearly 60 goals between them ) 3 naturally left footed players and a few who are comfortable using both feet definitely think we are well equipped to try this out. Back to the game got to credit to there manager Paul Howell with 4 players short I know a lot of managers who would of called the game off we were in a similar situation pre season when we had to borrow a few BHFC white players when we played Cheshunt Fc  im sure the game would of been a lot closer had they had there full team out .We had to change our system today by placing a player behind the defending two ( CALLED A SWEEPER IN MY DAY ) !! as they were trying to play balls over the top of our back two in to the space behind but Faith then Nathan W did a fantastic job of filling that gap without me having to explain to them so well done you two. Mitch looked comfortable in goal Hayden and Joe also created lots of opportunity's for overs to get on the ball and had there fair share of attempts on goal another goal for double j and The fig looked double lively up top .

OTHER NEWS !!
Great result for Belmont Blue who beat Loughton on Sunday but throwing this league upside down
its got to be the most competitive league in the echo with most games being won by a single goal which colours will be on the trophy come May 3rd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BHFC BLACK 1-1 #######

Hard fought draw but todays display  wasn't at the level  of  last weeks performance ill shoulder the blame for that.  .Development of players is the most important thing  so rotation is a must at this age, but there is a trade off with Hayden in defence and Nathan on a rest week we lacked that bit of craft in the final third of the pitch that the two aforementioned players give us. Also think when I changed it and pushed Hayden further forward we seemed a bit confused as to what positions we should be in . As I've said before thou when we haven't been at our best we always seem to get a result and a draw today was probably a fair result .  Going for Joe Regan as todays man of the match some of his ball skills followed by a pass was a pleasure to see.

MOMENT OF MAGIC

Our third eye camera caught Club secretary Claire Porter  trying to out class Joe Drapers earlier season header with her own piece of ball juggling on the left wing just before half time as the ball came over I see a nice piece of movement control on the head followed by a nice shoulder trick well done Claire but I still think Joes will take some beating !! who's  next ?????

TRAINING GAMES /SMALL SIDED GAMES

This week at Futsal one of the kids asked me why we played a game with no goals ! great question and I was told on a youth module course as a coach you have to know why we do certain games /drills so here goes.... in the no goal game (end zone game ) to score a goal you  have  to break into the defending teams half to score by breaching there goal line and putting your  foot on the ball.  I have used this game  with BHFC BLACK and TFA TIGERS before that for about 2 years It dates back so they say to Renus Michel great coach from the Dutch 70,s team (potted history for ya!!!!)  ,below are more games that are  used by every pro club in the world from u/6 onwards, reason behind that particular game  is  you have to beat an opponent great game if your session topic  is dribbling , running with the ball (DRWTB) .The  three goal game  is a great game to encourage switching play and attacking from wide areas . The two goal game encourages shots from distance , finishing from crosses , heading .They're  are lots of others including back to back goals , back to front goals , defenders goals the list is endless all with different focuses and a nice little game I found for outside which involves about 8 litres of water !!! yep its true kids will love this one.
The games are a form of learning called  guided discovery (youth module 1 ) , if I tell the kids how to play they wont remember but this style of learning and there are numerous  (only 5 used by  the FA) lets the game be the teacher .The game dictates how the kids play and by playing these games regularly at the end or start of sessions they will slowly start to take these games onto the field on a Sunday without even thinking about it.

BLACK FIND TOP GEAR !

BHFC 8-0 ######

Lost for words with a display like that today.  Obviously am very pleased we scored 8 times but for me keeping a clean sheet was the foundation that we built on.  Mitch, Ricky & Faith were tight from the off  on the FA level 2 they talk about the principles of defending ,delay , deny deflect and  from minute one we did this  allowing Hayden to run riot destroying their defence.  Perfect hat-trick  one with his left foot, one with his right foot and he was not satisfied with one from his head so he decided to go for two!!

Double J set up Hayden for his first goal, Nathan B for his second and his third was straight from a kick off.  Coby was pretty much a spectator for most of the game but as we pushed forward towards the end gaps appeared but Coby was their to save us on three occasions.

Moment of Magic

Tobi's second goal which from back to front consisted of 6 passes all going forward and finished without the opposition touching  the ball.  It really was straight off the futsal court.  Cracking team goal!

Ricky F

Solid performance, intelligent defending, knew when to go forward and when to sit with Mitchell by far our most improved defending partnership. The overlapping run in the 2nd half was superb .

Mitch P

Hardworking, pass completion was probably in double figures.  Great game understanding.  Ball skills get better by the game., would of done his nan and granddad proud

Nathan W

Played upfront for most of the game and worked the left flank well ,  but slotted in front of the back two when Faith went off.  Superb pass completion. Great game today

Hayden P

Four goals.  A perfect hat trick.  A menace throughout the 50 mins.  Covered every blade of grass. And two with his head

Double J

Link up play is always superb.  His pass completion if you watch carefully is one of the highest in the team.  Tracked back.  Understands not to follow the ball but watch the man.

Faith M

Another outstanding display.  Lightening pace.  Worked really well with Ricky & Mitch today.  Game intelligence is of the highest order.

Nathan B

Always comfortable on the ball.  Good link up play.  Two assists.  Really works well with Hayden.  Was in plenty of good positions to have a hat full of goals if his brother would of passed to him !!!

Tobi B

Another hat trick.  Technically very good and comfortable on the ball.  Pass completion needs work (internal investigation to follow!)

Coby M

Back in goal.  Solid as a rock.  Distribution excellent as always.  Hard to concentrate when the ball was constantly in the final third but superb on 3 occasions when we needed him another

Clean sheet in tact.

By far our best team performance ever.  With Nathan & Tobi passing to each other when they were in better positions I think we could have hit double figures but something I can influence at home!!

Well done.  Great performance by every one in Blue & Black and I hope Mitchell's Nan & Granddad had a good day at the Nilco Arena!!

Goals: Hayden (4), Tobi (3), Nathan B (1)

Assists: Double J, Mitch P, Tobi, Nathan B (2) and Hayden

Player of the Match: WHOLE TEAM CLEAN SHEET A MASSIVE BONUS

FACT........ BHFC BLACK HAVE ONLY CONCEDED ONE GOAL IN THE LAST 3 HOURS 20 MINUTES OF FOOTBALL AT THE NILCO ARENA !

########1-1 BHFC BLACK THE RICKY F SHOW !

A hard thought draw which I thought was a fair result assistant manager said he thought no team deserved to win it and I agree ,some lovely play at times and think for most parts we know where we should be on the pitch and our defence is getting tighter by the game .

GOOD

The switch of play from Coby when he took the ball in  the right back position and switched the play to Hayden on the Left a superb pass , Hayden dipped & swerved turning the defender inside and out before slipping into the bottom right hand corner making it his fourth goal of the weekend following his 3 minute Hatrick on Saturday . Another superb performance from Faith M really think the base of the diamond is a great position for Faith we get solidity at the back and Faith now looks frightening going forward so quick

BAD

The pitch wasn't in great shape probably hadn't seen a lawn mower for a couple of months , that's councils for you and boggy in areas but it was the same for both teams so no complaints

UGLY

The " fig" taking the ball cleanly to the side of the head 5 mins from time Tobi cleanly hit the ball with the laces a great strike that was on target and would of took a great save to stop " the fig " didn't bat an eye lid and got straight up and back to business hard as nails !!

PANTOMIME VILLAIN

Last  games ref obviously thought better of it probably suffering from burst ear drums after Joe Drappers verbal non expletive ! attack in the last meeting between the two teams.

TIP ME HAT

There coach Mark took the whistle and had a great game its hard to coach your team and ref at the same time and I thought he was fair and consistent and as I complained last time to the league and quite rightly so , I sent him a text thanking him for reefing the game.

PROPOSED  NEW MEMBER OF THE  BACKROOM STAFF !

It became apparent that the "the fig " was not playing in the right back position I had put him in , playing more as a right sided striker ! after 3 times of asking him to get back in position he still headed north ! towards there goal (Kev was not too impressed !) at that point I had to intervene and  warm his seat on the bench if he continued to venture forward , he retreated back South immediately !
After the game that "the fig" had took charge of team matters and instructed Nathan W to play at the back and he would go up front !! Nice try !! this boy does crack me up , we had a management meeting after the game !! and decided against him joining the backroom staff at this time but his CV will be kept by our club secretary on file .!

BACK AT THE NILCO ARENA
Home this Sunday 11.15 KO with two new defenders for this game, Coby will return in front of the uprights after a very successful four game stint on pitch  and will definitely get another run out before the end of the season well done Coby

BARKING FUTSAL TOURNAMENT

Hope they all enjoyed this mornings futsal tournament playing up a year was always going to be tough but I thought we no way embarrassed ourselves and again put us on the Futsal map. The Essex Fa see Futsal as I do as  a development tool for the grass game  " one  of the kids asked me a bit frustratingly why do we have to play u/10, s !!!! the answer was simple I cant find any u/9,s who play it !!! .I think they are used to winning and came as a bit of a shock to the system but that wont do them any harm, same lovely Futsal in the last game and congratulations to Hayden on a 3 min hatrick some really nice passing leading up to a couple of the goals.  Ill be keeping my eyes open for other friendlies and the names of all the clubs and contacts will be shared around the other teams so when the pitches are frozen or waterlogged later in the year we will continue to play .
Well done everyone and thanks for bringing the kids down back to league proceeding's tomorrow

BHFC BLACK 3-0 #######

Rotation this week took to us to playing Double J in defence with Tobi, and Joe R took the GK gloves and Coby played in the attacking 3rd . We took a while to get going , in recent weeks I have asked the sitting player  for the first 15 mins to play more defensively  to stop us leaking goals so early , the teams positional sense seems to get better by the game but after a sticky first 3 rd we brought Nathan off the bench and I think that changed the game for us  On 20 mins for the 4 th time ( he says 7th time !!!!) he managed to swing the ball in from a corner don't know how he does it but its natural not something we work on (prob the only thing we don't !!). We looked a lot better after half time against the wind and a lovely move saw Ricky play to Coby who found Mitchell with another net breaker for his 8 th of the season. Double j looked comfortable in defence and  for the second game running left the pitch with another clean sheet to his name, I think we are seeing the fruits of the work we have been putting in for some over two the last two years of playing them all over the pitch .Ricky was looking strong as usual giving us that bite in the final 3rd , Faith is looking superb coming out the back with the ball which I would like to her do more often ( but not this Sunday I have a special assignment for her !!!) Joe R was pretty much un troubled for most of the game but as Tobi last week when he was needed tipped past the post . Hayden added another assist to his name on 40 mins when one of his maizey runs crossed for Nathan who volleyed in with his back to goal for his 3 rd goal of the weekend. Tobi gave us that bit of experience at the back and helped double J settle in and he will be on call next Sunday to play further up the pitch . Coby looks great on pitch a that bit of power is a great asset  and he  will play outfield  again this week for our away trip .Not  our greatest performance of the campaign by a long shot but if on a bad day you can score 3 goals without reply play your GK on pitch and one of your best defenders in goal the day wasn't a complete   disaster! .Mitch looks like our main man with his ball manipulation and you can clearly see he is working on his skill of the week which will stand him in good stead throughout his footballing years well done Mitch and don't forget that left foot !!!!!
