This week at Futsal one of the kids asked me why we played a game with no goals ! great question and I was told on a youth module course as a coach you have to know why we do certain games /drills so here goes.... in the no goal game (end zone game ) to score a goal you have to break into the defending teams half to score by breaching there goal line and putting your foot on the ball. I have used this game with BHFC BLACK and TFA TIGERS before that for about 2 years It dates back so they say to Renus Michel great coach from the Dutch 70,s team (potted history for ya!!!!) ,below are more games that are used by every pro club in the world from u/6 onwards, reason behind that particular game is you have to beat an opponent great game if your session topic is dribbling , running with the ball (DRWTB) .The three goal game is a great game to encourage switching play and attacking from wide areas . The two goal game encourages shots from distance , finishing from crosses , heading .They're are lots of others including back to back goals , back to front goals , defenders goals the list is endless all with different focuses and a nice little game I found for outside which involves about 8 litres of water !!! yep its true kids will love this one.
The games are a form of learning called guided discovery (youth module 1 ) , if I tell the kids how to play they wont remember but this style of learning and there are numerous (only 5 used by the FA) lets the game be the teacher .The game dictates how the kids play and by playing these games regularly at the end or start of sessions they will slowly start to take these games onto the field on a Sunday without even thinking about it.
