######## 2-5 BHFC BLACK
Probably our most complete performance of the season , the opposition have beaten us in the last 2 encounters and are always good to play against , fair and good challenge for us . We reverted back to a 2 man defence and Faith sitting in a holding midfield role screening, a system we had used for a year until we started to play wing backs at the tale end of last season. Will Packer played his first league game in defence and I asked him to find them passes into the midfield , he did it superbly for the first goal with a fantastic switch of play from right to left and found the FIG ! who slotted home. The football we played in the first 15 minutes was probably the best of the season, I had given the players individual challenges (youth module 3 ) and a pro player as an example of who to play like , forgetting how old I am I gave the fig Roy Keane as an example .He told me Sunday that he didn't know who he was , but full marks to daddy fig,!! who had showed him youtube clips on Saturday night ,.I always new we had a squad of good players but it only dawned on me when I looked on the touch line at 3-0 up and Nathan /Tobi and Joe were in bibs !/. Every player met there individual challenge, Faith getting her first goal of the season , Hayden another header , Ricky with a brace and Tobi completing the 5 .
Youth module 3
Normally on courses you attend with coaches on the same standard (certificate wise ) as yourself. Youth module 3 was different, me and man like Dave D -) were in very experienced company. Almost all the London Fa hierarchy were in attendance, uefa B coaches A licence coaches , FA tutors for level 1 & 2 , and academy coaches from West Ham , Chelsea , Arsenal , Crystal Palace . Sitting next to me was the head coach at the London FA , a great chance for me to pick brains , and see if what I am doing is the right way . One of the discussions on the course was about pitching your self in too higher league , in which you are unable to rotate your players in different positions. One story that arose was of a coach who against his will had been put into a league where he was forced to play his kids in fixed positions to enable them to stay in the league .He was saying that the parents of 3 or 4 kids were driving the club to play at the highest level in order that there kids be scouted by pro clubs !!! We all know the stats on becoming a pro footballer , the club looks likely to be relegated according to him even thou the best positions were selected, every one seemed to be in agreement what a waste of a years football . That's what you are up against at some clubs , luckily we don't have that problem .
Leyton Orient game
Had a nice email from the foundation manager saying , that their kids were challenged in the game against us. Obviously not everyone gets invited in to play academy teams, we were invited to play them as we were seen to be a challenge for there u/9s , if we had won by 9 or 10 goals or the other way round it would of been seen as not a challenge to there players. They also look at, I am told the t behaviour of the coach, players , and parents when selecting teams to come in . Obviously that gives Buckhurst Hill , and the u/10, blacks a good name in the eyes of Leyton Orient and we will be invited back again .We had a player play in the game who hopefuly will want to play for us next season , which gives us a 12 man squad, if we stay as a group which I hope we do we will be looking for one addition 2 maximum , and me & Kev will want to sort that out just after xmas in principle.
Season so far
We have been challenged in every game and have stepped up well in this division , most games there has only been 0ne goal in the result, which I think is a good thing, apart from the EMH blip, we have been a match for every team in this division . No doubt we will be beaten again b4 the end of the season , its not all about results but W6 L3 D1 is a great return so far, and of course every player is learning a different position every week . Had some good feedback from other coaches commenting on our style of play and players being comfortable on the ball, the best moment for me this season was not the visit to Orient or the 6 wins but was an opposition parent clapping as we comfortably played the ball around at the back from Cobi to Tobi , to Nathan W to Joe , a small gesture of about 5 seconds, that can only happen when kids play without fear of losing the ball and conceding a goal, and parents & coaches allowing this to continue without the shouts of " get rid of it & not in there " this is explained in Youth module one "creating the environment for children to learn " just my opinion but a must course for coaches of players from 5 - 11
